In an interview following Kameron’s suicide, my father said, “We are the face of the extreme.” Unfortunately, after growing more aware of the increasing numbers of deaths by suicide, it’s hard to picture my family as the face of an “extreme.” Many families across the globe are left without answers to questions they never dreamt of asking as each day more and more children take their own lives. If you didn’t know, October is the National Bullying Prevention month. In honor of Kameron and my dad, I will be teaching the children in my care about the dangers of bullying and the value in kindness. I invite all of my followers to join in this movement and spread this message. Though Kindness Above Malice has taken a backseat while I try to get my own life together, the events which led to its creation will never be forgotten. Each and every one of us have the power within ourselves to help those who are struggling, and to lift the spirits of those in pain. It’s extremely difficult to stress how important this is because you really can never understand until you go through it. Yet, if I can inspire one person or touch the life of one contemplating suicide, the world becomes that much brighter. Please take care of yourselves and each other, and always choose kindness above malice.
